【摘要】:Partialextractionofsoilsandsedimentscanprovideinformationontheavailabilityofelementstoleeching,waterqualitychanges,orothersiteconditions.Rapidheating,incombinationwithtemperaturesinexcessoftheatmosphericboilingpointofnitricacid,reducessamplepreparationorreactiontimes.Littleornoacidsarelosttoboilingorevaporationinthecloseddigestionvesselsoadditionalportionsofacidmaynotberequired.Increasedblankcorrectionsfromtraceimpuritiesinacidareminimized.1.1Thispracticecoversthedigestionofsoilsandsedimentsforsubsequentdeterminationofacid-extractableconcentrationsofcertainelementsbysuchtechniquesasatomicabsorptionandatomicemissionspectroscopy.1.1.1Concentrationsofarsenic,cadmium,copper,lead,magnesium,manganese,nickel,andzinccanbeextractedfromtheprecedingmaterials.Otherelementsmaybedeterminedusingthispractice.1.2Theanalyticalsampleisarbitrarilydefinedasthatwhichpassesa10-mesh(approximately2-mmopenings)screenandispreparedaccordingtoPracticeD3974.1.3ActualelementquantitationcanbeaccomplishedbyfollowingthevarioustestmethodsunderotherappropriateASTMstandardsforelement(s)ofinterest.1.4Thedetectionlimitandlinearconcentrationrangeforeachelementisdependentontheatomicabsorptionoremissionspectrophotometrictechniqueemployedandmaybefoundinthemanualaccompanyingtheinstrumentused.1.5Beforeselectingadigestiontechnique,theusershouldconsulttheappropriatequantitationstandard(s)foranyspecialanalyticalconsiderations,andPracticeD3974foranyspecialpreparatoryconsiderations.1.6Theextentofextractionofelementsfromsoilsandsedimentsbythismethodisdependentuponthephysicalandmineralogiccharacteristicsofthepreparedsample.1.7Thevaluesstatedinbothinch-poundandSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection8.
